matthew: I am 36 yrs of age residing in NSW Australia. I have been drawing since i can remember, I found skateboarding in 1986, via an issue of transworld & future primitive, skateboarding exposed me to photography in a new way & in 1990 at age 16 got a minolta x-300 slr with 50mm 1.7 MD lens for christmas which i still use today. By 1991 i had decided that those big long guitars that only have 4 strings & made that low thumping sound was the instrument me & started playing in bands. Skateboarding & music was my existence for the next 8 yrs. in 1996 i drew a series of works for a clothing company. I refound my camera in 1997, & saw my first photos in print through that same company. I shot & processed my first roll of t-max 3200, i finally got a grasp on aperture & shutter speed & started to actually get results. I spent a few years doing seasonal work & studying photography through books, skate mags & photo mags. Got my first real published photo in a skate mag in 01-02. Went back to work, & almost died from lack of creativity & culture. I went back to school in 07 & I am currently doing a bachelor of fine arts at newcastle university.
